Veterans Day Drive

On Veterans Day, we honor the men and women who have served our country.  Their sacrifice and bravery is the reason America is the free country that it is today.

One way that The University of Scranton honors veterans at this time of year is through the Commuter Student Association’s (CSA) Veterans Letter and Donation Drive. CSA had table sits on the second floor of DeNaples with supplies to write letters to veterans, and a chance to donate money and highly-requested items to help support the veterans at the Gino Merli Veterans Center.

According to CSA’s president, Enis Murtaj ’20, members will go to the Gino Merli Veterans Center in Scranton on Veteran’s day (Nov. 11) to deliver the cards and items.

According to the Department of Military Veterans Affairs, the Gino Merli Veterans Center “provides a broad spectrum of health care and related services to those commonwealth veterans and their eligible spouses who are disabled, chronically ill, or in need of specialized care.”

As a busy college student, it is hard to even imagine what it must be like to leave home to defend the country.  It is so important for all those that do to know that we truly appreciate their sacrifice and that without them the United States would not be what it is today.
