School Spirit!!

Hey everyone!!

This past week has been one filled with tons of school spirit!  First, we had Midnight Madness, which is our version of a pep rally.  All of our sports teams are introduced, music is played, and of course free t-shirts are given out!  This year the t-shirt reads “the Wolf Pack” since our mascot is the Royal Wolf.  The idea behind this year’s design was to make a student section t-shirt that all the students can wear while attending games.  In order to access admission to the event, students were asked a canned food item to be donated to the Thanksgiving Food Drive.  Not only did I have an awesome time at the event, I was able to donate to a great cause!

Next was the Men’s basketball game Monday night at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.  Student Governemnt got a fan bus to bring students back and forth to the game.  Everyone wore there Wolf Pack t-shirts and cheered on the boys as they played the Division 1 St. Joe’s Hawks team.  Although the boys lost the game, it was still a great game for students come together and have school spirit.  I lost my voice from cheering so loud.  Their next game will be played Friday night, 7:30pm at home in the John Long Center.  Hope to see you all there!

Have a great week! One week until Fall Break! 🙂

Hey everyone!

I don’t know about you but I had an amazing weekend.  My sister and my best friend from home surprise visited me on Saturday! They had been planning to visit with my roommate without me knowing and I opened my closet to find them hiding there waiting to surprise me.  It was one of the best surprises I’ve ever gotten!  We spent the day hanging out, catching up, and got some lunch in Dixon City.  I showed them around campus and introduced them to all my friends.  We went to support the Women’s Soccer team as they defeated Catholic University in the Landmark Conference Championship game 2-0! Go Lady Royals!  It was sad when they had to leave but I know I will be able to spend more time with them when I go home in 2 weeks for Thanksgiving Break 🙂

Speaking of Thanksgiving, food comes to mind.  And with that, the opening of the new dining facility on Mulberry Street.  The new facility will be located in the new apartment buildings and will feature the Mulberry Food Court and a P.O.D. (Provisions on Demand) Market.  There will be grab ‘n go dining options including sushi, salads, sandwiches and wraps, fresh produce, baked goods, coffee selections, and traditional essentials found in a convenience store.  Students will be able to exchange a meal swipe for lunch and dinner meals.  Flex, Royal Card, Cash and Credit Card will all be accepted at the new location.  Yum, I’ll let you know how it is when it opens!

Have a great week everyone!! 🙂

White Halloween

Hey everyone!

“I’m dreaming of a white Christmas”….or should I say Halloween!  The first snowfall of the year happened this weekend, just a little early! 🙂  But that didn’t stop anyone from getting into the Halloween spirit.  I saw so many creative and fun costumes.  My friends and I dressed as the Spice Girls!  It was a great weekend filled with lots of fun…and candy.

The best part of my weekend, though, was being able to volunterr at the Safe Trick or Treat event on campus.  This is an event sponsored by the Community Outreach Office in which over 300 children from the Scranton community are able to dress up and go trick-or-treating throughout dorms on campus.  The children are also able to participate in fun, interactive games and crafts in the DeNaples Center following their trick-or-treating.  I really enjoyed escorting the kids around the dorms and seeing them all dressed up having a great time.  It was also nice that I still got to go trick-or-treating, even though I am a college student.  It never gets old! 🙂

Here’s a picture of the snowfall on campus!

There was also a pumkin carving contest that my roommate and I got to judge.  There was a total of 10 pumpkins competing for the Grand Prize of a $100.  The decision was a tough one because all the pumpkins were so creative.  However, here’s the one we chose as the winner:

The winners made their pumpkin into a couldron with paint and other decorations.  It was super creative and eye-catching!!

Have a great week everyone!
