“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”

“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.”

- Buddah

School is over until next week. Finally it is time to drive or fly home and reunite with our family, friends and loved ones!
However, this break is more than just a few days off from school. This break is a time for us to reflect upon our lives, the special people who share it with us and to appreciate the beauty that comprises our own little world.
Thanksgiving is one day out of the year when family and friends gather and feast. Spending quality time with parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins or friends serves as a reminder that we all share a life together, for which we are thankful for.
Eating and socializing with those closest to us is comforting. We are surrounding ourselves with individuals who have served as guidances, role models, protectors, friends, supporters, ect. These few people hold a special part of your heart because they have impacted our lives at one point or another.
Being grateful for the sacrifices our parents or guardians have made, or for appreciating our ability to wake up and breath is what this holiday is all about. It is about taking a moment, looking around at all that we are blessed with and thanking God for all of it.
As a reminder to all us: let us show our graitiude for our many blessings and act upon our appreciation. Reach out to others who cannot share Thanksgiving with
family or in a warm home. Thank your parents for standing in the kitchen cooking the turkey, or hug your brother and tell him you love him. Call a friend to say hi. Bring warm clothes to a clothes drive. Say a prayer to yourself and simply thank God.
And don’t forget one very important thing: eat, eat and eat some more!!!
