{"id":156,"date":"2019-03-20T15:59:03","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T19:59:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/biology\/?p=156"},"modified":"2019-03-27T17:56:02","modified_gmt":"2019-03-27T21:56:02","slug":"spring-2019-seminar-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/biology\/2019\/03\/20\/spring-2019-seminar-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring 2019 Seminar Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This semester&#8217;s seminar series is underway!<\/p>\n<p>The first speaker, Tim Sweeney, talked about his experience working in medical technology as the Northeast Head of Health Economics and Reimbursement at LivaNova PLC.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining speakers of the semester are ecologists whose integrative work ranges from physiology to modeling and evolution.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Thursday,\u00a0March 28th, at 11:30 AM in LSC 334<\/strong>, <strong>Colin Kremer<\/strong> (Yale University) will discuss his work modeling ecological dynamics in his seminar, &#8220;From beakers to ocean: microbial ecology in a changing world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Next, our own <strong>Chris Howey<\/strong> will talk on <strong>Tuesday, April 16th, at 11:30 AM in LSC 334<\/strong>\u00a0about his rattlesnake research, &#8220;The history and ecology of rattlesnakes in an ever-changing world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>Thursday,\u00a0April 25th, at 11:30 AM in LSC 334<\/strong>, our final speaker, <strong>Beth Norman<\/strong> (Lacawac Biological Station), will give us a taste of aquatic ecology with &#8220;Nutrient cycling in Appalachian streams: following nitrogen from microbes through food webs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This semester&#8217;s seminar series is underway!
