Students React to Springfest Announcement

The University of Scranton Programming Board (USPB) announced the celebrity guests for this year’s Springfest celebration yesterday via their Facebook.

The Office stars Angela Kinsey and Rainn Wilson were the highlight of yesterday’s announcement. The two will be holding a Q&A session and a Trivia game via Zoom for students to attend.

Students on campus that saw the announcement were all excited to see what the event and the rest of Springfest will hold.

Maggie Westerman is a senior journalism and electronic media major.

“I think it’s great that [USPB] was able to pull something together for us, especially since there wasn’t one last year,” Westerman said.

Westerman is also impressed with the celebrity guests set to attend.

“It’s awesome how they got such big names from the show,” Westerman said. “I’m looking forward to hearing what {Rainn and Kinsey] think about their fake home!”

Allysa Belches is a junior kinesiology major.

Belches said she is excited about the sense of normalcy events like Springfest offer.

“I was really excited to hear that we were still having Springfest despite the pandemic because it brings a sense of normalcy back into our lives,” Belches said.

Belches also said she looks forward to the entire schedule of events being announced.

“I’m really excited to see what [UPSB has] planned for us!” Belches said.

Lizzy Pronitis is a sophomore biology pre-optometry major.

Pronitis said she feels as if having Springfest this year helps make up for lost time at home last year.

“Considering students… had to spend last spring cooped up in their homes, I think the University is really making up for lost time with this year’s Springfest,” Pronitis said.

Pronitis also said she is excited for the Q&A event because The Office is such a huge part of Scranton.

The Office is the best show connected to Scranton, and I know everyone is thrilled to have the opportunity to virtually meet and talk to Rainn Wilson and Angela Kinsey,” Pronitis said.

Ashley LoFasa is a first-year student double majoring in neuroscience and philosophy.

Seaford, Ny. native Ashley LoFaso.

LoFasa said she is very excited to attend her first Springfest celebration as a Royal.

“I am so excited to attend my first Springfest, [and] that the Springfest celebrity guests for this year are the cast of The Office,” LoFasa said.

LoFasa said she is also just looking forward to taking a break from schoolwork.

“I am looking forward to taking a break from studying, attending some activities and winning cool prizes!” LoFasa said.
