A Coffeehouse to Remember: Kristen Merlin
By: Kayla Johnson
On Thursday night, The University of Scranton welcomed a special guest for the traditional Coffeehouse event on the first floor of the DeNaples Center. Kristen Merlin, a contestant on NBC’s “The Voice,” graced the school with both a great performance and personality. She poked fun at the judges from the show in between songs and took personal requests from the audience. Merlin gave some insight on what it was like being on the show and strummed some popular favorites, from Lorde’s “Royals” to Meghan Trainor’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.”
“Her voice and her personality was incredible, she made me laugh. This is one the reasons why I love going to the USPB Coffeehouses because the artists they bring in are so talented and unique,” said Nicole Borrelli, a junior.
My view? I made great memories and ate (two) too many cupcakes inside ice cream cones that resembled microphones. She may have been there to sing, but she made the crowd laugh. The sounds of her strumming on her guitar and a melodious voice made me look forward to the next Coffeehouse.
Miss this one? The next Coffeehouse is on Nov. 10 featuring Levi Stephen and an Open Mic night! Read more about it here.
