{"id":115,"date":"2015-03-07T10:01:52","date_gmt":"2015-03-07T15:01:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/englishandtheatre\/?p=115"},"modified":"2015-03-07T10:01:52","modified_gmt":"2015-03-07T15:01:52","slug":"five-of-our-students-heading-to-sigma-tau-delta-english-honors-society-convention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/englishandtheatre\/2015\/03\/07\/five-of-our-students-heading-to-sigma-tau-delta-english-honors-society-convention\/","title":{"rendered":"Five of Our Students Heading to Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society Convention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Sigma Tau Delta\u00a0will hold its annual convention on March 18-21, this year in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where five of our student members will travel to read their original work: <b>Mia Hodorovich<\/b>, a paper entitled <b>\u201cWomen\u2019s Health in \u2018The Yellow Wall-paper\u2019\u201d;<\/b> <b>Lindsey Pelucacci,<\/b>\u00a0her original fiction, <b>\u201cTwo\u201d<\/b>; <b>Maria Cleary<\/b>\u00a0a paper on a Middle-Scots poet, with, <b>\u201cWomen &amp; Marriage in Dunbar&#8217;s \u2018Tretis\u2019\u201d<\/b>; <b>Elizabeth Polishan,<\/b> a poem, <b>\u201cPlato&#8217;s Brothel,\u201d<\/b> and <b>Alex Wasalinko, <\/b>an analysis of Chaucer\u2019s Friar, in her paper <b>\u201cFriar of the For-Profit Order.\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Four of these students&#8211;<\/span><b style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Lindsey Pelucacci<\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">, <\/span><b style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Maria Cleary<\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">, <\/span><b style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Elizabeth Polishan<\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">, and <\/span><b style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Alex Wasalinko&#8211;<\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">also proposed a round table discussion on the convention\u2019s Common Reader, Simon Ortiz\u2019s <\/span><i style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">From Sand Creek.\u00a0 <\/i><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Their proposal was accepted, and they will lead a discussion entitled, <\/span><b style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">\u201cCrossing Borders among Ortiz, Plato, &amp; Feminism.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'\">Our local Mu Omicron chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the Department of English &amp; Theatre, the CAS Dean, the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and Education for Justice, are together fully funding this important work.
