{"id":1030,"date":"2009-08-25T10:09:21","date_gmt":"2009-08-25T14:09:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wmlinfospot.wordpress.com\/?p=1030"},"modified":"2016-07-20T16:12:22","modified_gmt":"2016-07-20T20:12:22","slug":"introducing-the-library-research-guides-wiki","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/2009\/08\/25\/introducing-the-library-research-guides-wiki\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing the Library Research Guides Wiki"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scranton.edu\/library\/researchguides\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"border:0 none\" src=\"..\/files\/2009\/08\/wiki_icon_32.png\" alt=\"ResearchGuidesWiki\" width=\"128\" height=\"128\" \/><\/a> The Weinberg Memorial Library is proud to announce a new collaborative project this fall &#8211;\u00a0 the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scranton.edu\/library\/researchguides\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>University of Scranton Library Research Guides<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>The Research Guides basically act as a starting point, where students and other researchers can find useful resources in their discipline.\u00a0 We&#8217;re using the Guides as a &#8220;home&#8221; to bring together helpful databases, reference books, e-books, and web resources for each subject.\u00a0 While we&#8217;re focusing on traditional academic disciplines, we&#8217;re also creating Research Guides for interdisciplinary issues like <a href=\"http:\/\/libwiki.scranton.edu\/mediawiki\/index.php\/Sustainability\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainability<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/libwiki.scranton.edu\/mediawiki\/index.php\/New_Technology\" target=\"_blank\">New Technology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The best thing about the Research Guides, though, is that they&#8217;re in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wiki\" target=\"_blank\">wiki<\/a> format (like <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">Wikipedia<\/a>) &#8211; which means that anyone can contribute links or references they find useful in their work.\u00a0 It also means that the Research Guides are fluid.\u00a0 Unlike static web pages, they will change and adapt over time as contributors add, update, and reorganize resources.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;d like to invite all members of the University of Scranton community to view, edit, and improve our Research Guides.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re new to wiki editing, take a minute to visit our<a href=\"http:\/\/libwiki.scranton.edu\/mediawiki\/index.php\/Getting_Started\" target=\"_blank\"> Getting Started<\/a> page.\u00a0 Let us know if you have questions, comments, or suggestions.\u00a0 We&#8217;re looking forward to collaborating with you!<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Weinberg Memorial Library is proud to announce a new collaborative project this fall &#8211;\u00a0 the University of Scranton Library Research Guides!
