To apply and see the full job description visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofscrantonjobs.com\/postings\/4963\">https:\/\/universityofscrantonjobs.com\/postings\/4963<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Position title<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Acquisitions Clerk<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Acquisitions Clerk is responsible for all aspects of ordering and receiving materials for the library. This position also cross-trains on other Technical Services activities\/duties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">&#8211; Processes order requests, searches the online catalog and databases for materials already held and researches current prices and information for requested editions<br \/>\n&#8211; Receives materials and reconciles shipments with packing lists, monitoring items for damage, or publishing errors. Reports problems to the Collections and Resource Management Librarian<br \/>\n&#8211; Researches, prepares, and places library book orders for all formats, including eBooks, print, out-of-print, and \u201crush\u201d orders using the Library\u2019s integrated online system, online databases, and Internet resources<br \/>\n&#8211; Processes and inputs invoices into Sierra (library computer system) for payment<br \/>\n&#8211; Uses departmental credit card to purchase book and standing orders as necessary<br \/>\n&#8211; Monitors book &amp; standing orders and vendor shipments to ensure accurate receipt of orders<br \/>\n&#8211; Prepares &amp; reviews open order reports and statuses of orders and standing orders<br \/>\n&#8211; Monitors departmental budget balances to ensure funds are not overspent<br \/>\n&#8211; Prepares credit card transaction reports for submission to Purchasing Department<br \/>\n&#8211; Follows up on vendor errors, damaged materials, and returns<br \/>\n&#8211; Answers the telephone in Acquisitions Dept. and provides information or refers to proper personnel<br \/>\n&#8211; Monitors the departmental operations in the absence of the Collections and Resource Management Librarian<br \/>\n&#8211; Files invoices and order records<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional Required Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\">&#8211; Ability to perform methodical and detailed work tasks with a high level of accuracy and close attention to detail<br \/>\n&#8211; Ability to work independently and to prioritize tasks according to the needs of the department<br \/>\n&#8211; Ability to think critically and problem solve<br \/>\n&#8211; Ability to multi-task<br \/>\n&#8211; Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form<br \/>\n&#8211; Excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to work collaboratively<br \/>\n&#8211; Ability to lift heavy cartons of books (up to 40 lbs.), and push heavy book trucks throughout the library<br \/>\n&#8211; Technical competency in Microsoft Office products<br \/>\n&#8211; Must be able to respect, support, and contribute to the University\u2019s Catholic and Jesuit mission<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Education Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Associate\u2019s degree, or two years completed towards a Bachelor\u2019s degree. Bachelor\u2019s degree is preferred.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Job Experience Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One year library work experience is required<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Library work experience in Technical Services, with use of an integrated library system.
