For those of you that haven&#8217;t been keeping up, we created\u00a0some displays to try to become more environmentally\u00a0conscious, and hopefully inspire some of the students to waste less. Our green tactics included stickers on printers, scanners and paper towel\u00a0dispensers\u00a0reminding you that the paper &#8220;comes from trees.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2010\/04\/these_come_from_trees.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2010\/04\/these_come_from_trees.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">But everything that <em>we<\/em> did was covered in a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wmlinfospot.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/19\/earth-week-in-the-library\/\">post<\/a> from the beginning of Earth Week. What I&#8217;m here to focus on is the suggestions that we got from students, which we are going to be taking into consideration as we focus more on sustainability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_1947\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1947\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2010\/05\/green-week-suggestions.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1947\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2010\/05\/green-week-suggestions.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1947\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Yes, one of those suggestions is that we paint the walls green.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">There were some especially good suggestions that we&#8217;d like to mention.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align:left\">\n<li>Install automatic sensors in the ProDeo room after the library closes, so that we don&#8217;t waste energy if no one is in the room at night.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the automatic doors at night. According to the\u00a0suggestion, that alone will save enough energy to light New York city for 500,000 years. I&#8217;d personally like to check the math on that one.<\/li>\n<li>Get double sided printers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">Some of these suggestions may not come into immediate effect, but we are going to try for some.
