{"id":2614,"date":"2010-09-20T12:51:28","date_gmt":"2010-09-20T16:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wmlinfospot.wordpress.com\/?p=2614"},"modified":"2016-07-20T16:10:10","modified_gmt":"2016-07-20T20:10:10","slug":"google-docs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/2010\/09\/20\/google-docs\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Docs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our <a href=\"http:\/\/wmlinfospot.wordpress.com\/tag\/technology-on-your-own-terms\/\">Technology on Your Own Terms<\/a> series continues on <strong>Friday, October 1 from 12pm \u2013 1pm in WML306<\/strong> with a workshop on <strong>Google Docs: An Excellent Way to Create, Collaborate on, and Securely Store Documents<\/strong>, taught by <a href=\"http:\/\/academic.scranton.edu\/faculty\/cannon\/\">Tim Cannon<\/a>, Professor in the Psychology Department and Director of the Neuroscience Program.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width:550px;height:125px;border:1px dashed grey;padding:5px\">\n<p>This workshop will introduce you to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/accounts\/ServiceLogin?service=writely&amp;passive=1209600&amp;continue=http:\/\/docs.google.com\/&amp;followup=http:\/\/docs.google.com\/&amp;ltmpl=homepage\">Google Docs<\/a>, a service that allows you to create documents that parallel Microsoft Office:  Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. It also allows for the creation of online surveys and the storage of any type of document in a very secure environment. Google Docs offers excellent collaborative opportunities for working on any supported document type with both peers and students, meaning that the tool can be used for course paper submissions, faculty feedback, collaborative student projects, club, or research purposes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p> <\/br><br \/>\nRemember, all faculty and staff members are welcome, but seats are limited, so please register for sessions you plan to attend at <a href=\"https:\/\/uis.scranton.edu\/pls\/prod\/uis2.log?f=ycaevnt.event\">www.scranton.edu\/ctleregistration <\/a>(select Special Event).
