The series introduces University faculty and staff to emerging technologies in order to encourage innovation in the workplace and in the classroom. We\u2019re continuing the series in Fall 2011 with two new workshops:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3180 alignleft\" style=\"border:0 none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bighistory.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Television.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"102\" height=\"85\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Changing Channels: The Next Generation of Television<\/strong><br \/>\nTuesday, October 18 from 12pm-1pm in WML305<\/p>\n<p>In this workshop, we\u2019ll look at new options in home entertainment and media, from HDTV and BluRay to streaming video. We\u2019ll talk about what consumers should look for when purchasing new television screens and introduce new streaming services like Hulu Plus, Netflix, and Apple TV. A light lunch will be provided. <em>(Taught by Jason Oakey, Office of Instructional Technology)<\/em><br \/>\n<em><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3180 alignleft\" style=\"border:0 none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.techfever.net\/images\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Kyros-Android-Tablet.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"119\" height=\"77\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>Tools for Tablets: Apps, Sites, and Widgets for Tablet Computers<\/strong><\/strong><br \/>\nWednesday, November 16 from 12pm-1pm in WML305<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">This workshop will discuss programs that will enhance your use of personal tablets, like the iPad, so that you can get the most out of these devices. We will look at file storage options, word processing programs, as well as social networks and e-reader applications. A light lunch will be provided.
