{"id":7418,"date":"2014-03-31T01:00:02","date_gmt":"2014-03-31T05:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/?p=7418"},"modified":"2021-09-23T17:51:43","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T21:51:43","slug":"media-attention-for-the-mutiny-on-the-bounty-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/2014\/03\/31\/media-attention-for-the-mutiny-on-the-bounty-exhibit\/","title":{"rendered":"Media Attention for the Mutiny on the Bounty Exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/2014\/02\/10\/the-mutiny-on-the-bounty-a-225-year-voyage-from-fiction-to-fact\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7432 aligncenter\" alt=\"Mutiny on the Bounty Exhibit Blog Post\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2014\/03\/Mutiny-Digital-graphic-13-33x10-Digital-Signage.jpg\" width=\"611\" height=\"462\" \/><\/a><em>Although the mutiny on the Bounty will always stand as a signal event in maritime history, the circumstances surrounding the mutiny have been clouded by early attacks on Lieutenant William Bligh and by motion pictures, which portrayed him as a tyrant.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">In celebration of the 225<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Mutiny on the <em>Bounty<\/em>, t<a title=\"Weinberg Memorial Library: Mutiny on the Bounty Exhibit\" href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/2014\/02\/10\/the-mutiny-on-the-bounty-a-225-year-voyage-from-fiction-to-fact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he Weinberg Memorial Library is presenting an exhibit on the topic<\/a> drawn from the collection of University benefactor and alumnus Edward R. Leahy.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit is on display in the 5th Floor Heritage Room until April 17th and has already received positive media attention.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wvia.org\/radio\/local\/artscene\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7424 alignleft\" alt=\"WVIA ArtScene\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2014\/03\/Art-Scene.jpg\" width=\"391\" height=\"294\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On March 18th, Erika Funke interviewed Special Collections Librarian Michael Knies about the exhibit for WVIA&#8217;s ArtScene. Ms. Funke also provides an overview of the Mutiny on the <em>Bounty<\/em> as it&#8217;s been depicted in film. The talk is free and open to the public. <a title=\"Collaborative Program: The Mutiny on The Bounty\" href=\"http:\/\/calendar.scranton.edu\/index.php?eID=7809\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reservations are requested<\/a>.
