{"id":8934,"date":"2016-01-31T13:00:33","date_gmt":"2016-01-31T18:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/?p=8934"},"modified":"2016-07-20T16:01:08","modified_gmt":"2016-07-20T20:01:08","slug":"national-football-league-and-super-bowl-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/2016\/01\/31\/national-football-league-and-super-bowl-50\/","title":{"rendered":"National Football League and Super Bowl 50"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2016\/01\/Super_Bowl_50_logo.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8937\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8937 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2016\/01\/Super_Bowl_50_logo-275x300.png\" alt=\"Super_Bowl_50_logo\" width=\"275\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2016\/01\/Super_Bowl_50_logo-275x300.png 275w, https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/library\/files\/2016\/01\/Super_Bowl_50_logo.png 302w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">With Super Bowl 50 fast approaching, I thought it would be interesting to find out more about the history of the Super Bowl and the history of the National Football League.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">Here are some interesting facts I learned about the Super Bowl and Super Bowl 50:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u2022 With a television viewership of over 100 million people and hundreds of millions of dollars spent each year on tickets, concessions, and merchandise alone, the Super Bowl is the most watched and greatest sports game on Earth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u2022 Super Bowl 50 will be the 50th edition of the Super Bowl and the 46th modern-era National Football League championship game.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u2022 In a departure from the NFL tradition of using Roman numerals, this game is marketed in Arabic numerals as &#8220;Super Bowl 50&#8221; instead of Super Bowl L (the Roman numeral for 50).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\u2022 The game is scheduled to be played on February 7, 2016, at 6:30 pm Eastern time at Levi&#8217;s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
