Praying for Others.  The best gift anyone can give to another is to pray for him or her.  When we pray for another person it not only helps the person find God in the midst of their trouble but it also helps us to recognize the endless blessings that God wishes to give to us daily.

If you are a current member of the University of Scranton community – or if you are an alum – you’re invited to enter your  prayer requests for your needs or the needs of others. When entering your prayer do not worry how it is phrased.  Our communication to God should be just as you (we) would talk to a friend.  Just click on the image above, type your prayer.  When your request  is accepted it will be posted here.

    Please pray for my sister-in-law who recently gave birth to her beautiful daughter. My sister-in-law is now having post-pregnancy complications (very high blood pressure and swelling) and now has a re-occurrence of shingles. Please pray for her health (for her blood pressure to return to normal, the swelling to subside, and the shingles to dissipate). Thank you.

    Father God I want to pray for all those family calling on your holy and righteous name. Father God, you know their names and you know their needs. Father God, look upon them and bless them. In Isaiah 53:5 it say that by your stripes, Father God that we are healed. I’m asking you for a healing Father God for anyone on their bed of affliction.

    Father God, you said in your word Father God, not mine, but in your word that “we have not because we ask not” so I am asking you for a healing Father God, I asking you for a spiritual overflow blessing Father God, and I am asking you for a financial overflow blessing, Father God. Father God, bless all those family in bereavement, let them have the understanding Father God that “weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning”. Just put your loving arms around them, Father God, as they stand in the need.

    Father God we want to Thank you for everything you have done and doing for us. If we had a million tongues we still couldn’t thank you enough.   40. Young, High School Athlete Needs Prayers for Eating & Health

    Please pray for a young high school athlete boy who is struggling with eating. He’s lost so much weight and seems confused about how to eat healthy to support his athletic talents. Parents and friends are very concerned for him and have tried reaching out to help, but he seems lost. May we please pray for healing and that this young man will feel Gods love for him:

    Lord, I lift this young boy to You and ask that You would place in him the desire to eat healthy food to make his body strong and well. Help him to understand what’s good for him and what isn’t, and give him a desire for food and exercise that is healthful.

    I pray that he be spared from all eating disorders in any form. Along with the desire to eat properly, give him the motivation to exercise healthy, to drink plenty of pure water, and to control and manage stress in his life by living according to Your Word. Lord, Your Word says, “you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

    Help him to see the truth about the way he is to live, so that he can be set free from any unhealthful habits that are hurting him.

    Please pray for a woman named Maureen. She is having surgery on Friday at the University of Pennsylvania for a Meningioma. This is a tumor that has formed on the back of the skull near the brain. The procedure is a craniotomy. It will be 4-6 hour surgery.

  77. Please pray for my friend Jim. After a long bout with cancer, he had been declared cancer-free and remained so for the past two years. Just this last week, it was discovered that cancer has returned and he is not doing well again. May God give him healing, strength and peace.

    I have an unfortunate request for the prayer chain. There was a 3-car accident where a drunk driver hit the other 2 cars. In the two cars affected were a 6-month old baby girl, her mother and her aunt. The baby has died and the other 2 remain in critical condition.

    Please pray for my Dad as he is undergoing a routine colonoscopy and that it will go well with good results.

    Please pray for my 86 year old mother-in-law who was admitted to the ICU over the weekend, with heart and lung related issues and her family will accept God’s plan for her with a sense of peace, wisdom and total trust in the Lord.

    Also please pray for my best friends mother Carol who is a few doors down from my own mother-in -law in the ICU. Carole remains in a coma and on a ventlator after a massive heart attack last week. They will attempt to take her off the ventilator this morning and if unsucessful will have to trach her. May God surround Carole and her family and give them the peace and strength they also need at this difficult time.

  80. Prayer Request

    Please pray for my husband. He had a CT scan of his stomach today after being in great pain. After leaving the CT scan, we were called by his doctor and told to go to the ER right away. The CT scan showed air outside of his stomach. The surgeon took him into surgery right away. They removed an ulcer and the bottom portion of his stomach. The have sent the area removed to be biopsied. The doctor is not sure why he would have formed an ulcer in the area of his stomach that it formed. Please pray for my husband’s recovery and for the biopsy to be all right, and for the wonderful doctors who cared for him. Thank you!
