Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening on campus with Facebook&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The University PR office runs the official <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/universityofscranton\" target=\"_blank\">University of Scranton Facebook page<\/a>.\u00a0 They also have a sort of Facebook umbrella that includes other\u00a0 University-related pages &#8211; e.g., for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The-Alumni-Society-of-The-University-of-Scranton\/69948005999\" target=\"_blank\">Alumni Society<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The-University-of-Scranton-Athletics\/113280808705408\" target=\"_blank\">Athletics<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The-University-of-Scranton-Community-Outreach-Office\/112352248800102\" target=\"_blank\">Community Outreach<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Fresh-Food-Company-at-the-University-of-Scranton\/291616398919\" target=\"_blank\">Fresh Food Company<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Career-Services-at-The-University-of-Scranton\/165769351680\" target=\"_blank\">Career Services<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/scrantonadmissions\" target=\"_blank\">Admissions<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/The-University-of-Scranton-Programming-Board\/87068985211\" target=\"_blank\">USPB<\/a>, etc.\u00a0 <a href=\"mailto:nidohl2@scranton.edu\"> Lori Nidoh<\/a> is the contact for PR&#8217;s social networking projects.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/uofslibrary\" target=\"_blank\">Library Facebook page<\/a> is run primarily by <a href=\"mailto:yarmeyk2@scranton.edu\">Kristen Yarmey<\/a>, but you can also get help from Facebook-savvy librarians <a href=\"mailto:mchughm5@scranton.edu\">Sheli McHugh<\/a>, <a href=\"mailto:aulisiog2@scranton.edu\"> George Aulisio<\/a>, or <a href=\"mailto:mazziottid2@scranton.edu\">Donna Mazziotti<\/a> if you have questions.\u00a0 Donna is the Library expert on Facebook privacy issues and settings.<\/li>\n<li>Some academic departments have created Facebook pages &#8211; including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/University-of-Scranton-Biology-Department\/77067369003\" target=\"_blank\">Biology<\/a> (run by <a href=\"mailto:gomezg2@scranton.edu\">George Gomez<\/a>) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/uofscomm\" target=\"_blank\">Communications<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The SJLA Honors Program used a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/group.php?gid=139770872727598\">Facebook group<\/a> in 2010-2011 (run by <a href=\"mailto:haggertyd2@scranton.edu\">Dan Haggerty<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"mailto:grettanot2@scranton.edu\">Teresa Grettano<\/a> teaches a course on Rhetoric and Social Media (WRTG284), in collaboration with librarian <a href=\"mailto:mazziottid2@scranton.edu\">Donna Mazziotti<\/a>, that addresses rhetorical situations in social media and networks like Facebook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you&#8217;re working on incorporating Facebook or other social media into your classroom, post to the comments below and let us know what you&#8217;re up to &#8211; or feel free to post questions or suggestions for other faculty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Updated 8\/31\/11) You know almost all of your students are on Facebook &#8211; but can and should it be used in an academic setting?
