{"id":1816,"date":"2012-04-24T16:15:07","date_gmt":"2012-04-24T20:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/tag\/?p=1816"},"modified":"2013-08-19T09:26:33","modified_gmt":"2013-08-19T13:26:33","slug":"mobile-apps-group-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/tag\/2012\/04\/24\/mobile-apps-group-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Mobile Apps Group update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Updated 5\/10\/12: <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/tag\/files\/2012\/05\/2012-04-18-mobile-apps-working-group-minutes.pdf\">Minutes from this meeting<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>The University-wide <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/tag\/tag\/mobile-apps-work-group\/\">Mobile Apps Group<\/a> met last week for the first time since February 8.\u00a0 A few updates that are relevant to faculty:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blackboard Learn Mobile App for ANGEL<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Since the Learning Management System (LMS) Work Group is <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/tag\/2012\/04\/02\/update-on-angel-and-lms-work-group\/\">now considering staying with Angel<\/a> as an option, the University is doing a full-blown trial of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackboard.com\/Resources\/Mobile\/Whats-In-Blackboard-Mobile-Learn-Angel.pdf\">Blackboard Mobile Learn<\/a> for Angel to see if it can meet student\/faculty mobile needs.<\/li>\n<li>The mobile version does not have all of the features that the standard Angel interface does &#8211; most notably, the gradebook and assignment dropbox are not fully accessible from the mobile app.<\/li>\n<li>Faculty can try it out by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackboard.com\/resources\/mobile\/mobile_learn_splash\/desktop\/portal-nonsprint.html#android\">downloading the app<\/a> (the &#8220;New&#8221; version with the red ribbon on the icon) to their mobile device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Review of Mobile App Survey Results<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lori Nidoh shared results from the Spring 2012 Mobile App and Services Survey that they ran on campus. Lori&#8217;s presentation (pptx) is here: <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.scranton.edu\/tag\/files\/2012\/04\/2012-mobile-survey-findings.pptx\">2012 Mobile Survey Findings<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Most of the survey respondents were current undergraduate students &#8211; only about 3% were faculty.<\/li>\n<li>Survey respondents were very interested in getting mobile access to Angel. Mobile access to Angel was ranked most highly (average of 3.9 out of 5) of a list of suggested future features, and more than 60% of respondents ranked it as the University resource they&#8217;re most interested in accessing from their phone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Android access to the my.scranton portal<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CTLE put together a spreadsheet showing the level of access to the my.scranton portal from different Android devices.
