CNAC Deployment Feedback?

8 10 2010

The Library was the last building on the CNAC Deployment schedule – and we’re hitting a few rough spots today after this morning’s rollout.  How did the deployment go for everyone else? Any issues that the TSC hasn’t been able to resolve?

The Physics Department got the CNAC deployment a few weeks ago, and I didn’t hear about any major problems. I had a few issues with Linux (and continue to do so whenever I restart), but I haven’t heard any other problems from the faculty here. So either it transitioned without problem, or the HELP desk was able to sort things out.

It seems like most of the issues we had were with networked resources that were shared between faculty and staff computers or faculty and student computers (rather than faculty and faculty computers, or staff and staff). I’m not sure exactly what the problem was.

TSC staff were on the job and were very helpful – we did get everything sorted out by around 1pm the day of the rollout.

Just a quick follow-up – Calvin from Network Infrastructure just gave me a quick call to get some feedback on how the deployment process went here at the Library and to see what IR could improve next time. This makes my day – I don’t think any of us expect perfection, but it’s important to me to feel like we’re all working together to make things better for everyone. Thanks Cal and IR! :D
