Our own Prof. Kraus has just published an op-ed about what he sees as the over-pressurized business of applying to college. It’s like being a contestant on The Bachelor, he suggests, and it can really feel as if you’re competing for a rose from The Bachelor (of Arts).
As he puts it, in part:
Don’t get hooked on the supposed ‘dream university’. Don’t try to impress a place just because everyone else is trying to impress it. In other words, don’t think of the admissions game as you think of The Bachelor. The college that is right for you may not be the one others are pining after. In fact, it usually isn’t.
