Matthew Porto, English ’12, will enter the MFA program (poetry) at Boston University in the Fall with a tuition & fee waiver & a generous stipend. He will also teach for one semester a section of first year writing at BU. While a student at Scranton Matt took several ENLT classes in poetry as well as the poetry workshop (WRTG 216) & published a poem in Esprit, Scranton’s undergraduate review of arts & letters. Upon graduation he taught for a year in Taiwan. Reports Matt, “I had my heart set on Brooklyn College (he was accepted to their MFA program & to programs at several other NYC schools), but the offer from BU was too good to refuse.”
