Dr. Teresa Grettano, Assistant Professor of Rhetoric & Composition and Director of First-Year Writing, and Associate Professor Donna Witek, Faculty Librarian and Information Literacy Instructor, will present the three-hour interactive workshop “Shared Goals for Shared Learning: Using Frameworks to Collaborate in the Writing and Information Literacy Classroom” at the 2015 ACRL Conference in Portland, Oregon, on March 27. For more on the conference, see http://conference.acrl.org/
The Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (see http://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/ilframework) has incredible potential for deepening our pedagogy, especially when considered alongside similar frameworks in other disciplines, such as the Framework for Success in Postsecondary Writing (see http://wpacouncil.org/framework). Participants in this workshop will consider together these two frameworks with the goal of making conceptual connections between them, developing shared learning outcomes, and designing learning activities to meet those outcomes, within a wide variety of learning contexts.
