Change in Library Hours

Due to the University’s decision to extend Spring break to two weeks, the library will be following the following schedule:

Friday (March 13), 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Saturday-Sunday (March 14-15), closed

Monday-Friday (March 16-March 20), 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Saturday (March 21), closed

Sunday (March 22), Noon – 10:00 p.m.

Monday-Thursday (March 23-26), 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Friday (March 27), 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Saturday (March 28), Noon – 6:00 p.m.

Hours after March 28 will be posted at a later date.

Please be advised that the Library will move to card swipe access only (24/7) on Sunday March 15. Please check your ID now to make sure it has not expired, and plan to bring your ID whenever you visit the building.

 

New in the Library for Spring Semester 2020

Over Intersession the Library made some new improvements in response to student feedback:

  • 100 of the hardwood chairs on the 2nd floor were upgraded to have cushioned seats.
  • The large group study room on the third floor was split into two, adding an additional “non-reserve” study room.
  • The third floor will be open 24/7 for quiet study all semester starting Friday Feb.7.

We always appreciate student feedback, and hope these changes improve your study experience!

More Library Study Space Available

The Library Computer Lab (Rm.306) and an additional Group Study Room on the 4th Floor (Rm.419) are now available for student use. Please note the guidelines posted. And per student request, the Library 3rd floor will again be open 24/7 for dead week and finals week, specifically earmarked for Quiet Study. Good luck with your studies!

Poem in Your Pocket Day 2019

You may know that April is National Poetry Month, but did you know that Thursday April 18 is “Poem in Your Pocket” Day? People are encouraged to “celebrate by selecting a poem, carrying it with them, and sharing it with others throughout the day”. I am choosing to share here a very short poem by Emily Dickinson.

To Make a Prairie

To make a prairie it takes a clover and one bee, —

One clover, and a bee,

And revery.

The revery alone will do

If bees are few.

The Jane Kopas Women’s Center is making selected works of Black Women Authors available around campus in little free libraries. Look for this box in the library!

Due predicted weather conditions the library will be CLOSED on Saturday 1/19. Students can still swipe into 24 hour areas. A decision about opening on Sunday will be made Sunday morning.
